Dr. Carol Soucek King has been Editor-in-Chief of Designers West magazine since 1978. A monthly publication, Designers West is the leading magazine for the professional interior designer in the western United States, and has been the recipient of numerous awards for being the West's best publication in the fields of residential, corporate and hospitality design. Dr. King is also the Editor of Designers World launched in September 1991 for the design community in the South/Southwest.
Dr. King was named Woman of the Year by the Network of Executive Women in Hospitality in 1989. She has also received awards for distinguished service from the national board of the American Society of Interior Designers and from the Los Angeles chapters of the American Institute of Architects and the International Society of Interior Designers. In addition, she was the first recipient of the "Partners in Excellence" award, presented to her in 1987 by the Southern California and Nevada chapters of the American Society of Interior Designers, and the 1983 Editorial Award from the Dallas Market Center.
After graduating from Marlborough School in Los Angeles, she earned a B.A. and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Southern California. She also studied at the University of Cambridge in England, and holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Yale University.
Dr. King is married to Richard King, President, King International Group. They reside in Pasadena, California.
