About «Hush! A Gaelic Lullaby »
This book is full of illustrations, and begins with depicting a mother by the sea calming her crying baby. The story continues to explain in one sentence or less what is happening in the outside world while meanwhile “the baby cries at home”. Soon, the family is done with their chores at home and they all return to help baby sleep. The book ends with the family gathered around a sleeping baby. In my classroom, I would use this book to help children who are struggling to fall asleep. It could also be used during a unit on sleep or times of the day. I may read it during nap time or rest time. It would be a great conversation starter (because of the illustrations) for a later part of the day.
