A good introductory/intermediate qi gong book. The author recommends reading his book The Root of Chinese Qi Gong before delving into this one, but if you have had some instruction in qi gong you'll be fine with this book. The history section is very interesting - explaining how qi gong developed and the differences between Taoist and Buddhist qi gong. The book is very well organized, like every book I have seen by this author. The author's explanations are helpful and it is great to have translations of many different ancient texts in a single volume. There are certain statements by the author, however, that lead me to believe that he does not practice the highest levels of qi gong and that he leaves certain very important things out of his practice or is not sure about them.Nonetheless, this book is still an excellent resource for those wishing to learn about qi gong.
