The best and most profoundly suggestive of Mr. Boorstin's think-books (as opposed to histories); and in this opinion I differ from those who always cite the newly republished Pseudo-Event book.But its tracing of the dialectic between America and Europe, and their differences.The consequences of the relationship between differeing American ideas of Europe and European ideas of America has led to huge mistakes and misunderstandings - to read Boorstin writing in 1960 of these things is to see that, had I been not merely 9 years old when it came out, someone like me who understood it could have explained to all how badly institutions like the EU and the UN would be sure to turn out.
