Those who knew General Vega long before he assumed the rank felt that they might possess something approaching the truth of his origins, and the origin of the power he so quickly accumulated and put to his purposes. But they would be wrong. For while there is no denial of the fact that well-crafted lies leverage power, and accelerate its acquisition, the corollary is that the lies which most effectively do so are essentially true.
