The creative arts are an essential part of the primary school education. By using the activities in this book, you can reinforce number and letter recognition, strengthen fine motor skills, and foster creativity and confidence. This book is for the youngest crafters and is intended to be a supplement to our Junior Kindergarten curriculum. For easy reference, the crafts are separated into three categories: Literature Crafts, Letter Crafts, and Review Day Crafts. While the crafts in this book have been carefully chosen to promote skill growth and coordination, the most important component is fun. Enjoy each of your creations and the time spent together making them.
The only searching I have to do now is through the index of The Book of Crafts Jr. Kindergarten for the appropriate letter or book theme craft to page number and then find the supplies I need. The supplies are often general craft supplies found around the house. The only one I've had trouble with remembering to buy so far is coffee filters as we're not coffee drinkers here!
Again, we have a gorgeous cover to go on! The physical book is a great quality with a beautiful spine that I can read the title right off the shelf to grab it. All the pages are in black and white, however there is a Picasa album online where you can see color pictures of all the crafts included in the book. At first I was uncertain how I would feel about these, as I am not a very craft person when it comes to "crafts". My craftiness pretty much stays to needle crafts such as quilting and cross stitch. Yet, AppleBlossom loves to paint and is really enjoying coloring and tag-along not-quite-two-year-old loves to color too... so these crafts are perfect. Plenty of opportunity to cut, color and paste as well as some other activities and all while reinforcing what we are learning through our literature, alphabet, and number lessons.
